Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning Achieves High Ranking on Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2018 Franchise 500 List
Go-to publication for startups highlights the many ways a Chem-Dry franchise creates a path to profitability for small business owners around the world
Entrepreneur magazine has released its 2018 Franchise 500 list, and Chem-Dry has continued its streak of sharing honors with the country’s best business opportunities.
Making it onto the 39th annual Franchise 500 list was no small feat. More than 1,000 companies vied for the honor of inclusion, and are evaluated by costs and fees; size and growth; corporate support; brand strength; and financial strength and stability. Chem-Dry has made the list every year for 30 years, and is consistently the top-rated carpet-cleaning franchise.
“Entrepreneur magazine is the go-to source for anyone looking to launch a small business,” says Doug Smith, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development. “And the Franchise 500 list is a single source of high-quality information about a wide range of opportunities, including Chem-Dry. We take great pride in being included once again.”
Startup costs highlighted in listing
Startup costs are front and center for every franchise on the list, because often they make the dream of small-business ownership insurmountable. Chem-Dry’s model creates a home-based business that can be run full- or part-time and offers an entry point starting at just $56,495.
“In addition to joining an international, legacy cleaning brand, a Chem-Dry cleaning franchise owner also controls every aspect of the business,” Smith says. “From what type of equipment package in which to invest, to what hours to operate — it’s all up to the franchise owner. That’s not something other brands can offer, and it really is a major differentiator for us.”
Financing eased with discounts and packages
Chem-Dry also offers in-house financing to qualified franchise owners, as well as a 10% discount for veterans. The Entrepreneur list also noted Chem-Dry’s flat, monthly royalty fee of $400.98. Being able to manage those fiscal issues takes care of what could be significant barriers to entry, Smith notes.
“Even though the economy continues to improve, banks are sometimes slow to lend to small businesses,” he says. “We work with lenders to create packages that will cover startup costs that include equipment and inventory. We want to help every new Chem-Dry franchise owner get out there and start generating revenue.”
Chem-Dry is the world’s largest carpet and upholstery cleaning franchise, with nearly 3,500 franchises in 53 countries serving 10,000 homes and businesses a day. Chem-Dry has been Entrepreneur magazine’s top-rated carpet cleaning franchise for 30 straight years. The Chem-Dry Hot Carbonating Extraction process delivers a faster-drying, deeper and more environmentally friendly clean that appeals to home and business owners. In addition to carpet and area rugs, Chem-Dry provides tile and stone, granite countertops, leather and upholstery cleaning.
