Chem-Dry’s Ongoing Business Mentoring Program Gives Franchise Owners An Edge
Ongoing input and advice from seasoned professionals helps franchise owners prioritize decisions in order to maximize market penetration and growth
Owning a small business is exciting and rewarding, but also time-consuming and challenging. One of the most difficult aspects, for example, is juggling everyday operations with strategic planning. Chem-Dry cleaning franchise owners are able do both thanks to an ongoing business-mentoring program.
“When everything is important, it’s hard to prioritize,” notes Doug Smith, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development. “Being your own boss also means taking on a lot of responsibility, and so our coaches are there to provide support and organize franchise owners so they can focus on providing great service while also looking down the road for opportunities.”
Program helps reinforce good practices
Many Chem-Dry cleaning franchise owners begin using the program as they transition away from the Quick Start mentoring platform they began using when the franchise was new. That training helps get owners used to small-business ownership and operations, and is designed to run for around a year. The ongoing program, by contrast, is available on an ongoing basis for the issues that arise in the life of a growing franchise.
“These coaches are there to provide as much support as a franchise owner needs,” Doug says. “If someone is stuck on an issue, maybe a marketing campaign that’s not getting the desired results, or an issue around hiring and retaining good techs, then the owner can connect with a coach and talk through the problem. That way they’re not only guided toward a good solution, but they also get some practical advice on operations to put into place going forward.”
Training adds value to franchise ownership
Having business-development savvy literally on call is invaluable to every Chem-Dry cleaning franchise owner. Whether the business is new or decades old, having an outside opinion backed with a sound knowledge of business fundamentals is a great asset.
“Entrepreneurs love the idea of owning their own business, and we see successful ones get started every day,” Doug says. “Even so, it’s easy to get tangled up in the many responsibilities that ownership entails. Having coaches there to help franchise owners work through issues and set goals is something we take very seriously, because we know how much these programs can do to help someone succeed.”
