Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning Franchise on Pace for 120 New Locations in 2014

Number of new franchisees has grown 20% from a year earlier

The Chem-Dry carpet cleaning franchise is on its way to a record-setting year of growth. D’Wayne Tanner, senior vice president of franchise development for the world’s largest carpet cleaning franchise, says the company is on track to open 120 new locations by the end of 2014.

“We’re really excited about this growth. Not only does it prove that carpet cleaning is a recession-proof industry, but it shows that there are a lot of entrepreneurs out there ready to make big things happen,” Tanner says.

2014 has also meant big recognition for Chem-Dry. The experts at Entrepreneur magazine once again named the company the No. 1 carpet cleaning franchise, as well as a top home-based business opportunity and a top low-cost franchise.

2014 growth driven by newcomers to carpet cleaning franchise

For the past several years, Chem-Dry’s growth has been driven by existing franchisees looking to expand their established businesses. While the recession made it more difficult for people to launch businesses, existing Chem-Dry franchisees were able to perform well despite the challenging environment. The average annual income for a franchise grew 5% from $250,297 in 2012 to $263,779 in 2013, as documented in Chem-Dry’s latest Franchise Disclosure Document. The financial security afforded by Chem-Dry encouraged existing owners to add territories and service offerings.

Franchisees are now benefitting from a steadily improving economy and a stronger housing market. It’s great for existing franchisees, and it has also created ideal conditions for people eager to start a carpet cleaning business.

As Chem-Dry CEO, Dan Tarantin explains, “Homeownership is on the rise, and with that, we are seeing an increase in the number of responsible buyers who are dedicated to protecting their investment. From top to bottom, they want to make their purchase last well into the future, and they recognize that regular carpet cleaning is a key component to that. More and more new homeowners are turning to Chem-Dry to help them make their investment last and keep their homes happy and healthy.”

So far in 2014, Chem-Dry has opened in markets such as New York City; El Paso, Texas; Washington, D.C.; Orlando; Huntsville, Alabama; Jacksonville, Florida; Fayetteville, North Carolina; San Diego; Hanover, New Hampshire; and Boston, just to name a few. As the year comes to a close, Tanner and his team are looking to add cities like Providence, Rhode Island; Columbia, South Carolina; and New Orleans to that list.

With more than 2,000 locations, Chem-Dry is the largest carpet cleaning provider in the United States. The company sets itself apart from competitors thanks to its exceptional, non-toxic cleaning method that is safe for kids and pets. Chem-Dry’s environmentally conscious approach and commitment to innovation have earned them twice as much market share as their nearest competitor.

Chem-Dry can be started with relatively little money, and the business model is designed to help you ramp up your business and expand. While startup costs are as low as $39,999, the earning potential is high with the average franchise revenue in 2013 at $263,779.
