Extend a Hearty Chem-Dry Welcome to Our New Franchise Owners in Texas, Georgia, Connecticut

New partners help build Chem-Dry system east of Rockies, seize great franchise opportunity

We?re proud and happy to welcome five new franchise owners and three franchise locations to the Chem-Dry system, all of them in areas we?re targeting: suburban Atlanta; Hartford, Conn.; and Fort Worth, Texas.

The Georgia and Connecticut units are brand-new, and the Texas franchise is a business that?s been open for more than 30 years but reached a point where it needed some new ownership. Some Chem-Dry locations are already operating in all three areas, but there?s plenty of customers for more. These skilled, ambitious folks will help us build our system east of the Rockies ? our primary goal for the next few years:

Backhaus

Charter Oak Chem-Dry, Hartford, owner Ruth Backhaus. Ruth, 50, spent most of her career working in information technology for large corporations, mostly for the insurance giant The Hartford.

She left her job in March, decided to start her own business and learned about Chem-Dry through Entrepreneur magazine, which has ranked us high on its list of the top 500 franchises for an astounding 24 years in a row. ?I chose Chem-Dry because of their emphasis on honesty and integrity,? Ruth says. ?I am only going to get behind a product I really believe in.?

Chem-Dry by Dan Derby, Fort Worth, owners Chad Mills and Mike Heib. This actually is a highly successful franchise that Dan and Pauline Derby had run since 1981.

But the Derbys are in their 80s, and they finally decided it was time to sell. Chad, 40, is a former Fort Worth police officer and overseas military contractor who joined forces with his friend Mike, a general contractor; he plans to retain the well-known franchise name.

Chad says both men wanted a more consistent stream of income than contracting, which can rise and fall with the housing market. He says Chem-Dry?s training ?set us up for success. Dan and Pauline said Chem-Dry has always been there when they needed them, and that if you take and implement what they set out for you, you will succeed.?

Southern Fresh Chem-Dry, Fayette County, Ga., owners Rob and Robbie Reeder. This is a father-and-son team. Rob, 57, worked for 30 years in commercial title insurance but suffered as the market shrank in the recession and decided to start his own business. Robbie, 26, earned a marketing degree from the University of West Georgia in 2009 but has had having trouble finding a job in that field. He?s putting those skills to work now. ?The major factor in our decision was the low entry overhead, plus the opportunity to make a profit quickly and get some cash flow,? Robbie says. ?During training, the people made us feel really at home and let us know that if we have any questions, even on the job, we can call them and they’re always there.?
